Ship’s de-perming process using coils lying on seabed

چکیده

A ship built from ferromagnetic steel disturbs the uniformity of Earth’s magnetic field. Changes of ship’s signature are due to magneto-mechanical interaction hull with field. The ship’s field can be detected by a naval mine. For this reason, vessel has be demagnetized. There several methods de-perming. The results experimental and computer simulations de-perming process using coils lying on seabed presented in paper. The simulation hysteresis model was carried out Opera3d 18R2. laboratory experiments were physical model, Helmholtz coils, magneto-resistive sensors, etc. computer simulations have shown that ship’s de-perming is possi

Working with alarms on ships ICT work on ships

Alarm indicators are a very simple and important user interface for many control tasks, and are known to be problematic. Alarms on ships have increased in number and importance. Recent incidents such as Savannah Express, Aquitaine and others have identified a number of important issues in the way that alarm systems support safe and effective work. The state of alarm systems onboard is inconsist...

Acoustic Seabed Classification using Fractional Fourier Transform

In this paper we present a time-frequency approach for acoustic seabed classification. Work reported is based on sonar data collected by the Volume Search Sonar (VSS), one of the five sonar systems in the AN/AQS-20. The Volume Search Sonar is a beamformed multibeam sonar system with 27 fore and 27 aft beams, covering almost the entire water volume (from above horizontal, through vertical, back ...

Modeling and Simulation of the Evacuation Process of Passenger Ships

The need to safely evacuate within very short time a large number of people from a confined space, such as the superstructure of large passenger ships, is a difficult task of great practical interest, as documented in recent discussions at the Marine Safety Committee of the International Maritime Organisation (MSC-IMO). This paper describes the methodology utilized by the code EVDEMON (EVacuati...

Exploring maintenance policy selection using the Analytic Hierarchy Process; An application for naval ships

In this paper we investigate maintenance policy selection (MPS) through the use of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). A maintenance policy is a policy that dictates which parameter triggers a maintenance action. In practice, selecting the right maintenance policy appears to be a difficult decision. We investigate MPS for naval ships, but our results have wider applicability. For our study we...

On lying and deceiving.

This article challenges Jennifer Jackson's recent defence of doctors' rights to deceive patients. Jackson maintains there is a general moral difference between lying and intentional deception: while doctors have a prima facie duty not to lie, there is no such obligation to avoid deception. This paper argues 1) that an examination of cases shows that lying and deception are often morally equival...
